Sports Day 2019

Every year, there's an event in which all athletes await with glee, in the year of 2019, this event was held on the 22nd of February. Sports Day is a well held tradition in Sri KDU in which different houses would be faced off against each other in a variety of factors. The day started off bright and early, for some even before the sun had risen, having a few new events, the Opening Ceremony took up more time but in the end most would agree that it was worth it. This year, the school implemented an event to appreciate the athletes of each house and to raise everyone's spirits. The Athlete's Walk is a short event in which all athletes take a walk of pride in front of the audience, somewhat like a parade. After the walk, the March Past event came to a start. As always, the perfects and scouts led the rest of the houses in the march. Each house showing off their skills and synchronization, each house giving their all and showcasing their talents in a variety of ways. Another new special event is the dance, it's exactly as it sounds. Those on the field had to dance along to the song with the cheerleaders, which despite some protest, most would agree that it lifted everyone's spirits up. What is probably one of the nerve-wracking moments is the running events in which, several of our students broke the school records! This is no small achievement, and an even bigger shock is the fact that more than one event’s record was broken. This is only possible due to the fact that each and every single student practiced hard with all their might. But the athletes aren't the only ones that worked their heads off, the March Past group, Cheerleaders, Cheer Squad, everyone worked extremely hard for this one day, spending more than a month’s worth of training. Many would say one of the most looked forward to events is the Cheerleading event, and the hype isn't misplaced. Each house gave us a splendid performance, matched with different upbeat music. Needless to say their routine left many people in awe. But that wasn't the only event that left the audience in shock, let us not forget our Cheer Squad who was there all the while, cheering on their respective houses whenever they can. At the end of the day, despite each house giving their all, there could only be one winner. In the end, one particular house rose up to claim the title of champion, and that is, the Blue House.
