Photography: the art or practice of taking and processing photographs. Here at Sri KDU Secondary School, many talented students take pride in holding their cameras to capture beautiful moments. However, we at Exposure Newsletter noticed that they barely had any opportunities to present their photos on a national level. At the same time, most of the photographers among us were eagerly anticipating the annual Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival (KLPF) which was to be held on the 26th to the 28th of October at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre.
So, what did we do? Simple; we asked the school to support us in booking a booth at the festival and were greeted with resounding success! Next, we held a photography competition among all students of our school. After months of careful judging, 10 skilled students (listed below) won the opportunity to display their wonderful photos at one of the biggest photography events in Malaysia!

Days after the announcement of results of the competition, the long awaited day had finally come. On the 26th of October, KLPF 2018 had finally begun! To open the booth, Mr. Venoth, our beloved teacher-in-charge kindly drove 6 representatives to the exhibition hall while 6 other representatives took their own transport.
The Exposure booth was set up at booth number E26, among many other booths set up by other local schools and institutions. Although our booth wasn’t as special as the other booths from all around the world, we still found a way to make it unique. As a few Exposure committee members had visited a day before the opening day to get the booth ready, the photos and table were set up elegantly and we opened the booth in no time!

As we did not need 12 representatives to greet visitors at all times, some of us took the time to browse the other booths. They promoted all sorts of things, such as tourism, phones, photography organisations, photography drones and of course, cameras. Canon’s booth even offered free camera lens cleaning! Some of us also visited the neighbouring I Love Coffee & Tea Expo, enjoying many of drinks served by the baristas there.
At the stage, we also joined a model shoot contest. Models dressed in red and white were surrounded by professional and aspiring photographers alike, using both phones and DSLR cameras trying to find the best angles for their shots. It was very lively.

Finally, most of the Exposure team left the convention at 5PM via Mr. Venoth’s car. A few decided to stay back as they wanted more time to witness all the convention had to offer. Everyone left the convention with a brightened interest in photography. We will almost certainly be back again next year!
Got any cool photos you want to share? Send them to us at exposure.kdu@gmail.com! We’d love to showcase your talents to the whole school. Feel free to send in your other creations, too! <3
